It has been a while since I have done any updates on what the kids are interested in or what skills they are amazing us with these days so I'll take this opportunity to update you on Zack.
He is one smart kid. There is no doubt in my mind that he is ready for kindergarten. During the Vikings season he learned how to do football math. He's got adding by 7's and 3's down really well. He can count by 2's, 5's and 10's up to if not past 100. He loves doing jigsaw puzzles but they have to be over 100 pieces to be a challenge. And while we were in Hawaii we found a new type of puzzle that he just loves so for Easter he got two more. He also loves activity books that have different kinds of challenges in them too.
He loves games and is very competitive with them. You'd better watch out when playing cards with him though, especially UNO. He is a card shark!
We've also come to realize he is very competitive with his sports. He LOVES playing baseball in the back yard and it is always a baseball game he wants to play, not just hitting the ball around. He is a HUGE Twins fan this year and we have more than once found him sleeping in his Twins hat. The baseball schedule his Auntie Do gave him is permanently under his nightlight in his room and he is telling us the time of the game and who they play every day. The first question of the day from him is usually about the score of the Twins game the night before and he wants to know how the Twins scored. When there is a day game there have been many sobs over the Twins. They are not having a good year so when they start to loose he sobs. When he first started this I thought he was seriously hurt but it turned out to be the Twins score. If anyone has suggestions on how to help a 5 year old deal with disappointment we are all ears!

Zack has also begun to read and memorize books which is quite fun to see his mind work. He has even done a few search a word puzzles on his own in his Puzzle Buzz books from Highlights that he loves.
Zack is also into playing games on the computer and if you happen to have a smart phone or an iPad you are instantly Zack's best friend. This gets Auntie Mo a little annoyed because Grandma Trish (who has a smart phone) and Auntie Meg (who has an iPad) now get a few extra hugs and snuggles when he sees them to make sure he is on their good side and gets to play Angry Birds. :-) He's also the only one between him and his cousins who have figured out the chip system at grandma's on Tuesdays play date. If the kids are good or do something good while my Mom and I are golfing and Meg and Mo are watching the kids they get a chip. That chip can be turned in for 5 minutes worth of iPad time. So he cozies up to his Aunties with hugs and tells them everything he's done good lately, trying to get as many chips as he can! He did this at Christmas too when trying to earn straws for baby Jesus' manger. He's a smart one, he is!
His other talent is his singing. He likes to sing but usually needs prompting in front of a crowd, or if his sister is stealing the show then he has to join in, (competitive). :-) He really does have a good voice. I'll post a video with his 5 year stats on Wednesday.
I know I am bragging on and on about Zack but he truly is just an astounding and sweet boy and we are so proud of him and love him so much.
