Ok, I know I'm not posting very frequently and some of you check regularly to see if I have posted anything new. Well I just added a feature onto this page that signs you up to receive e-mails when I add new content.
On the right hand side of this page under the picture of Coko you will see the place to add your e-mail address to get updates.
Hope this is helpful!

Fun indoors.
Of course living in Minnesota we have to find some fun activities indoors. Hear are a few places we have found to spend time.
Eagles Nest in New Brighton
Some friends of ours from my ECFE group suggested this place. Zack had a blast! The two boys with Zack are Ethan, (the one with cheeks you just can't resist pinching!) and Alec, (the one with adorable curls.)

Rosedale Play area
My Mom and my sisters + kids, went shopping at Rosedale. We let the kids run off a little steam in their play area (well, Adrienne just slept actually).
Playing in the Snow
These are from Zack's first time in the snow this year. Yes, it was in the month of January.

These first two are a couple of nights before. We were testing to make sure his pants fit. He LOVED them. He didn't want to take them off all night. When we did take them off, he kept asking, "Again?".
At first Zack had difficulty walking in the snow. He could only crawl around. After awhile he got the hang of it but not for many steps.

A Birthday "Message" for My Dear Sisters!
Happy 31st Birthday!! Hee, Hee, you can't get rid of this one!
Happy birthday to you, this is your day. On this day for you we're gonna love you in every way. This is your day, your day, happy birthday to you, to you, to you.
Happy birthday to you, you're still young. Age is just a number, don't you stop having fun. This is your day, your day, happy birthday to you. This day only comes once every year, because you're so wonderful with each and everything you do, hey!
Happy birthday to you, this is your day. On this day for you we're gonna love you in every way. This is your day, your day, happy birthday to you, to you. This day is only for you, 'cause you're so special in every way, happy birthday to you!
This is kind of an inside joke between my sisters and I. I try to play this NKOTB song for them or send it to them in some way shape or form on their birthday which is today!

What's Zack up to?
Can you tell I have some time today? :-) This may be the way the blog goes, nothing for weeks and then BAM! :-)
So what is our 19 month old son up to these days? He is a very busy little boy. He is running all over the place and climbing over everything these days. He is also quite the chatter box, not such a good thing in church when he's talking to Riley. (My parents and my sister Molly, plus fam., go to the same church as we do.) He hasn't quite learned to use a quiet voice. He's also quite the flirt. He has to say "Hi" to everyone he meets on the street or elsewhere. He'll keep repeating it till someone says "Hi" back and then he'll giggle. It's quite cute.
What is he saying? LOTS! He's starting a lot of sentences now too. Examples:
"There she is" - Hasn't figured out genders yet so every statement is with she. It started when he would look for Coko in the morning outside his bedroom door. Once she saw her that's what I'd say. He now uses it for other people who disappear and come back.
"I love you" - Melts your heart!
"I like Kitty" or "I like puppy"
"What doin'?"
"What Happen?"
"I cookin'" - Wants to be like Daddy! He will take any kind of stick like item and find anything with a hole in it and stir in that hole and say this. It's pretty interesting the things he finds to cook in. A toy golf bag, his toy Helicopter that has a hole on top for balls to go in...
He's also very polite using, "Please" and "Thank you" already. We're starting to work on "Sorry" since he's begun to throw a few tantrums directed at people and Coko.
Cute words:
"Onkey" = Monkey. He LOVES Curious George, the books as well as the TV show. That is the first thing he wants to do in the morning is watch "Onkey, George". I DVR the show so we have them "on demand".
"Bampa" = Grandpa
"Mama" = Grandma - I am strictly Mommy
"Nana" = Banana
"Tah Dah!"
"BAM" - Daddy taught him this one recently while "cookin'"
"Touchdown!" - with the arm motions. Anything that gets the crowd excited while watching football he thinks it's a touchdown.
"Hockey" - which goes with " GO, GO, GO"
"Coffee" - Darin and I don't drink it but my mother-in-law does and when she comes into town and stays with us Zack knows "Mama" Bartsch drinks coffee, which is "HOT"
"Code" = Cold and its very dramatic how he says it.
"Rock, Rock" - When he is rocking in his rocking chair.
We think Zack is going to be an Engineer, which does run on both sides of our family. The things he looks at and tries to figure out is mind boggling. He knows how to turn switches on toys so he can turn them on and off when he likes. He likes to know how things work and if he sees you do something he's interested in he has to try it himself. We aren't the only ones to notice this. Some of the women in our ECFE group have said the same thing.
We know he's a genius already. He has such a great memory. When we were at my parents to visit Santa, Santa tried to get Zack's attention with the story of "The Night Before Christmas". Santa was doing it from memory, well, you could see something click in Zack's brain right in the middle of his playing and he stopped, then went and grabbed my Mom's teddy bear that tells you the story! No prompting from us. He recognized the story grabbed the bear and pushed the button to hear the bear tell the same story Santa was telling. We couldn't believe our eyes!
How do we keep busy during the week? Well, we are in an ECFE class, (Early Childhood, and Family Education) once a week, then we have met a great bunch of people through these classes that we go on play dates with and through that group one of the women knew a yoga instructor that does yoga out of her home and was willing to have our little guys run around the room while we attempt to get a workout. :-) So we do that once a week as well. These activities keep the week moving and gets us out of the house. I'm also lucky to have Molly staying home and my Mom so if we need a play date with Riley or I need to get out of the house, I can call on them. Megan is on maternity leave right now too so the 3 of us are having some fun with that. On Monday we went to Albertville and left the kids behind, (with grandparents of course). It was great. We haven't shopped together for years.
Well, now I think I am officially out of stuff to blog. So, I'm going to go and organize some pictures since Zack is still sleeping.
TTFN!

Congratulations to our Cousins!
We had some wonderful news this Christmas! We found out that Darin's cousin Heather was proposed to by her boyfriend Jeff on Christmas Eve! They are planning to be married on September 6 of this new year!
We also heard that my cousin Chris is also engaged to his girlfriend Jessica. We haven't heard if they have set a date yet though.
Congratulations! We are excited for you both!

Happy New Year!
I hope this year has started off well for all of you. Usually I have been in the practice of not making New Year resolutions but this year I found myself making them. Guess I miss making goals for myself assessments at work, (this should get a laugh from all of my old ADC cronies. Goals were the worst part of the review process.). Anyway, I thought I might share a few with all of you:
1. Update blog at least twice a month. More if time permits. Sorry, I know there are many of you that would like me to do it more often but I just don't always have the schedule.

2. Spend more time with our Godson Collin, oh yeah, and his parents. :-) My goal, to get together at least once a month. I have neglected to post a picture of our handsome Godson, who takes after his mom of course. Note Dougie, I am not posting your favorite picture from Christmas since he was not wearing a Vikings jersey. This is a Bronco free zone!
3. Make a meal plan every week. I am horrible about thinking ahead to dinner. There are many nights Darin comes home and we end up eating frozen meals or ordering in because I have forgotten yet again to pull something out or I had no idea what to do for dinner. Plus, since Darin is the cook I feel a little silly making the decision of what he's going to fix for us. So this way it will be a group decision.
4. Organize all of our digital pictures. You might think this is a silly one since you know how I like to TAKE pictures. The problem is I download them but don't organize them right away. So I am working on pictures right now from 2005! Now you also know why I didn't send to many pictures of Zack out prior to this blog.
5. Print pictures for Zack's baby book. See #4, makes it hard to print what you don't know you have. :-(
6. Figure out how to use Flicker. This is a web page my cousin uses to show us his pictures. He can link it to his blog so that the blog isn't so crowded with snapshots like I just did for Christmas. First got to get the pics. organized. Then I'll figure this one out.
7. Download our videos from the 8 tapes we have and then post some to the blog. This one is Darin's resolution, at least the down loading part is. But I thought I'd include it so you know what to look forward to in the future of the Bartsch Beat.
8. Time for a little fun. Date night at least once a month. We talk about it all the time but don't follow through. Hopefully writing it down will mean it will happen.
So these are just a few of the things that are going to be keeping me busy this year.
Hope you are enjoying this blog we have begun.
