Some of you may already be aware of this if you check my sisters blogs too but my grandpa is back in the hospital again. He has been there since Thursday due to blood in his stool. They were having a hard time getting his blood hemoglobin to a level where they could do some tests to see where the bleeding might be coming from. After quite a few plasma transfusions yesterday they were finally able to go in and found an ulcer. It seemed to have stopped bleeding though when they were in for the procedure. However, last night and early this morning he was bleeding again and his hemoglobin was low so they have him in for some more tests to see if the ulcer started bleeding again or if something else is causing the trouble.
Please keep him in your prayers. It's getting quite frustrating for him. He was almost to a point where they were going to let him go home from the nursing home when this problem began.
UPDATE MONDAY:
They found another ulcer in the tests they ran yesterday. They cauterized it and monitored him through the night to make sure there was no more bleeding and that his hemoglobin stayed up. I'm happy to report that this morning everything was looking good. He will be in the hospital for a few more days to make sure everything keeps improving.

Pictures of the Big Boy Room
We got a few more "pieces to the puzzle" this weekend so I thought I would share some more pictures.
This room actually has a lot of history in it.
First of all the wooden box sitting on the night stand was made by Zack's Great-Grandpa Duane Aune. It was one of 6 made for Darin's Aunt Debbie's kindergarten classroom. Debbie is going to be retiring soon and decided that each of the 6 grandkids should have one of these boxes. Thank you Debbie for sharing this with us!
The corner shelf on the wall was made by Grandpa Al. They had these in their home in Roseville and when they moved to Oregon we got them. It's actually from a set of 3. The other 2 are in the nursery.
The wood grain furniture was mine when I was growing up.

Now we just need some artwork for above the bed and we're set. I'm thinking I may have a lot of fun at the Canterbury Art fair this fall! :-)
Zack sure does love playing in his new room. He takes us up there sometimes just to play. And then of course he plays in there a lot when he's supposed to be napping or going to bed. I know the solution would be to take the toys out of the room. But I want there to be something for him to do in the room while I'm taking my shower in the morning or tending to the baby upstairs in the near future.

He's Officially in the Big Boy Room!
This weekend Darin spent most of the time getting Zack's big boy room ready. I'm happy to say that on Sunday afternoon he was officially moved in.
Darin completed installing the ceiling fan Sunday afternoon. We wanted to make sure we got him in for his nap so that at night it wouldn't be so scary if he woke up in a strange place. I think this tactic worked because we did hear him wake up once on Sunday and he just talked a little and went right back to sleep.
It may also have helped that he got to see the slow progression of this room and therefore it wasn't such a strange place to him once in. Slow progression wasn't our initial plan but it seems to have worked well.
Our initial goal was to have him in by his birthday, then the end of June. So we were a little behind in our schedule. Darin and I were talking and agreed that it probably took us so long to get this room in order because we weren't ready for him to be a big boy. It was a very strange feeling moving him to this new room. I can't explain it but I'm sure our parents, Aunts, Uncles, family and friends with older kids will be able to relate.
The room is not fully complete, (need to recover a valance, need new blinds to be delivered and decorate walls) but as soon as a few of these things are completed I'll post pictures of the room.

Cooley Pizza
Da Cooley Crew, aka, my cousin Dan and his wife Sharis and their son Ryan were in town from Chicago for the 4th. We got together with them for a pizza lunch at my parents house last Wednesday. It was lots of fun watching the kids play with each other and catching up with Dan and Sharis! Ryan, who will be 1 on Saturday, was quite intrigued with Riley and Zack. Adrienne was quite intrigued with Ryan.
Zack's first Mike's Hard Lemonade. Note: Great-Grandma didn't know it was spiked when she gave him a sip. But, come to think of it, she didn't stop giving him sips once she knew either....
Riley and Zack out on the deck waiting for the Cooley's
Zack's giving Adee a spin. Ryan's showing off his walking skills!
Ryan, Adee and Riley are ready for a cousin picture, now where is that busy little Zack!
There he is!
Hey, Ryan, tell me how you are doing that!
Riley got into her pizza! Great-Grandma's feeding Adee.
A puppy pillow for Ryan! Hey Adee, you want your sucker back?

Play Date with Collin
Last Monday Zack and I had a play date with Michelle and Collin. Michelle had decide to take an extra long 4th vacation so they came to our house to play. It was lots of fun and the boys did very well sharing Zack's toys.
It's the paparazzi!
Zack felt that Collin had an ouwie on his back. What a nice friend. Michelle thinks he saw Collins birthmark on his back and thought it was a scratch.
It's the Newest Kids On The Block. :-)

Such silly boys!
Whew, all that playing tired Collin out!

Just Like Daddy
Grandma D and Grandpa Al will appreciate this newest spot Zack decided to try for his nap yesterday. It will remind them of a picture taken of Darin while on vacation who fell asleep with his feet on the wall. You know how close those beds can be to those walls. Zack must have overheard us talking to G & G about this picture on our web cam conversation on Sunday and figured he'd try it out too.

I've added a new label, "Odd Sleeping Places" to the left to keep these priceless pictures set apart from the others.

How We Spent the 4th of July Weekend
We hope you all had a wonderful and safe 4th of July weekend. We definitely enjoyed ours with some good weather.
Friday we actually didn't do much. We shopped for a few things for Zack's new room and then while Zack napped Darin went fishing. That night Darin grilled and we at outside and enjoyed the wonderful evening. Zack was fast asleep by the time our neighbors started fireworks. He didn't wake at all.

Saturday we went to Lake Independence in Baker Park and had a fun afternoon playing at the park, having a picnic lunch and then Darin and Zack went swimming and built sandcastles. Zack had a blast and lead Darin to the water first.
Sunday was HOT, HOT, HOT! So we stayed inside and Darin and I hung the boarder for Zack's new room. Here's a sneak peak.
The room is not quite finished yet. We need to find a window treatment and get a ceiling fan in the room. Once we get the ceiling fan installed we will be moving Zack to his Big Boy Room. So far he loves to play on the big boy bed. Hopefully the transition will go well. It will be interesting to see where he decides to fall asleep in his new room.
