8 Wonderful Years!

Eight years ago today I married the man of my dreams! For the first 5 years of our marriage I got to know him as a wonderful and loving husband. Now for the past 3 years I've gotten to see an even better side of him, loving, caring and fun loving Dad.

Thank you for 8 increadible years honey!

We don't have anything special planned today because we celebrated a bit early. On Friday my parents watched the kids and we went and spent the night in Stillwater. We went to dinner at The Docks and then caught some Irish music playing at a pub at the Water Street Inn where we spent the night. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary.

7 Months Old Today

Kiley is 7 months old today and it has occurred to me I've missed posting a few first of hers.

3 months ago we introduced rice cereal to Kiley. She took to it right away. She even tried to feed herself. Daddy wasn't going fast enough for her. She's very noisy when she eats. Just like Adee was.

Her next taste of solid food was in mid March. Just in time for St. Patrick's day we started Kiley on green beans, (she had to have green food too!).

She has liked everything we've given her so far, green beans, peas, squash, sweet potatoes, bananas and applesauce. Mommy and Daddy not so much. We don't care for the stains. I remember I was so excited to start Zack on fruits and veggies. I think the day of his 6 month appointment he had his first taste. With Kiley I dragged my feet a little. Any of you with leaky models remember when the spit up ends???!

Other big things: Kiley has discovered her toes and loves playing with them on the changing table.

Too bad it's not warmer temps. I think she'd be enjoying them even more.

On March 12th Kiley began to sit up! She's still pretty wobbly today but I think that has to do with her short legs and long torso.
No crawling yet but she certainly can army crawl! I can now say I have 2 mobile kids. I have to keep a close eye on her.

On March 21st Kiley received her first haircut! One month later than Zack I might add. She had quite the mullet going on and funny bangs so we decide it was time. She did great. No tears at all.

During
Ooh what's that?! Can I do it?

After

We think she looks like a different baby! Even cuter!
So that is what's keeping Kiley busy. More on Zack soon and maybe I'll have Christmas posted by Easter. :-)

A Beautiful Quilt for Kiley!

Back in January we received a wonderful and much anticipated gift for Kiley. Darin's Aunt Denise has a tradition of making quilts for all of her great-nieces and nephews. We got Kiley's on New Years Day and it is unbelievable! I couldn't take my eyes off of it for days! It's a permanent fixture on our floor and has saved our floor from LOTS of baby stains... I've mentioned Kiley's spit up issues before right? Much worse with baby food!

Thank you so much Denise!!!

Kiley loves her quilt!

Coko enjoys it too!! :-)

This is Zack's quilt (7 months old).

You may notice a Pooh theme. Denise knows I LOVE Pooh!! :-)

Miserable...

.... that is the only way I know how to describe the past week and a half. We have had a bad cold bug in our house for that amount of time and it still hasn't left!
It started with Zack a week ago Sunday. He didn't seem to be feeling all that well in church and as the day progressed got worse. That night he was up every two hours with a bad cough that would make him cry. By morning he was barking like a seal, (or is it a sea lion?) and he did nothing but sit on the couch. Now you know that is not my son! I took him into the doctors and he was diagnosed with croup. The rest of the week he didn't bark any more so I guess the steroid the dr. gave us worked but his throat seemed soar for a while from the looser cough he now had which we treated with Popsicles and Grandma Trish's soup. By Saturday he had a bad runny nose and decided it was time to share the bug with Mommy and Kiley. Darin decided to join in the fun on Sunday. Not fun at all!

It is very hard watching your kids feel miserable and not be able to do anything about it. Zack was so sad in the dr. office. He actually fell asleep in my lap while we were waiting for the doctor! And these days they don't recommend giving 2 year olds cough syrup so we found a homeopathic one but that doesn't work all that well either, re-dosing every 2 hours. And watching Kiley who I can't even give the homeopathic stuff to is so hard and trying to get her to cough to clear her throat is impossible. I had to make her laugh or cry to clear the gunk out. It's also very hard being a parent and being sick at the same time too.

Zack is feeling MUCH better. He barely coughs and hasn't had a runny nose any more. Kiley is still coughing and at times a little rattly in the chest but never had a runny nose or seemed miserable. Might be something to do with breastfeeding, at least I'm hoping. We're not sure but we think there might be some new teeth complicating things too. Darin is also on the mend but I seem to be in a stand still. My sinuses are the issue. Can't seem to clear them enough!

I hate being sick and I'm tired of being locked up in my house! Zack and I have ventured into our back yard a few times this week so we could get some fresh air in our lungs but other than that we've been home bound.

Hope all of you are staying healthy!

No Longer Zack Proof!

Our house is no longer Zack proof. Last week Zack figured out how to take off the child's proof doorknob on his bedroom door. So he is now free to room the house and we are one of the lucky parents that gets to be woken up in the morning by a face staring back at us! Nap time/rest time has also gotten very tense. I knew this day was going to come at some point. Especially after we had him potty trained. But I wanted it to happen on our terms, not his. :-(

The other thing he has figured out are the cabinet/drawer locks. You know the ones you push down on with your finger to get into. Well he figured that one out with a Popsicle stick while he was sick and then realized his finger worked just as well. Now are knives are no longer safe as well. Ugh!

He also love to pull his stool around to get where ever he needs to get up to... the bathroom counter to take the box of Kleenex out of its holder so he can bring the box into the family room and empty it... the freezer so he can open the door, grab the Popsicles and help himself to one, (found this out because he couldn't get the Popsicles back up high enough so he could close the freezer). At least he hasn't figured out the food pantry lock yet!

Ah, life with a creative 2 1/2 year old!

Oh and there is one more thing below...

Pup's Got Ups!

Don't think I've ever posted a blog about Coko but this one I couldn't pass up. We recently figured out that Coko can jump into the crib! No joke!

I was telling Coko to come and put her paws on the top of the crib to peak in like she does on occasion and used the command, "Up". Well, she jumped up and into the crib! I was shocked! Kiley loved it!

And Every Where Kiley Went Zack was Sure to Go?

I knew Kiley was going to try and copy her big brother and try to go where ever he went but I didn't think it would work the same way.
These days I am having a hard time keeping Zack out of Kiley's pack n play and crib. It wouldn't be a big deal but Kiley is usually IN them when he's trying to get in, on his own, when I'm not in the room, going head first! Kiley has FANTASTIC guardian angels!

Notice the blue bucket. That is what he used to get in the pack n play while I was outside with Coko.

The lure of the crib, a musical toy that has a movable monkey. He took the step stool out of the bathroom. Kiley loves the company though!

Yet another example of how our house is no longer Zack proof!

So who's Missing in this Picture?

Might it be the baby that actually belongs in the crib?
