Bartsch Brunch

Last Sunday we got the chance to have brunch with 2 of Al's sisters and family. It was great to see the Maus' and the Hagels'!

There were more people there but it seems I only took pictures of those holding Kiley. With the exception of the last picture. Sorry about that!

We had a doctors appointment on Friday to check on Kiley's weight. The good news is she is gaining weight. She's now 6 lbs. 13.5 oz. So in 9 days she gained 5.5 oz. The doctor was happy with this but was hoping it would be more so he's having us try to feed her a little more after she's been fed already to see if she'll take more or if she's just going to be a slow gainer. So far she just wants to be petite.

How's she doing otherwise? She's a very good baby. She is sleeping well at night although she does tend to be a night owl. We usually don't get her to bed before 11:30 too often. She takes after Mommy in that respect.

Zack is doing really well with her too. He is very helpful and doesn't seem to mind Kiley at all. There are a few times we've been asked to put her down but if we don't he hasn't thrown a fit about it...yet. He actually seems very proud to have a baby sister. He has to tell everyone he meets that, "We have a baby sister" even if he's seen them since she was born. :-) It's very cute.

A HUGE Thank You!!!

Grandma D and Grandpa Al left to go back to Oregon today and we already miss them! They have been here for the past 2 1/2 weeks and they have been a HUGE help!!! They cooked, cleaned, did laundry and ran errands for us. Not to mention mowed the lawn, changed countless diapers and helped with Zack's bed, nap and bath time. They also kept Zack very busy playing and building countless towers. They were a tremendous help and we don't know what we would have done without them!

Can't Believe She's 1 Week Old

Time certainly does fly! I can't believe our little girl turned 1 week old on Friday.

We had her 1 week appointment today. She weighs 6lbs. 8oz. She was 6lbs. 6oz. when she left the hospital. It's normal for babies to lose weight while in the hospital. The doctor was concerned however with the amount of weight she has gain since she's left so she has another appointment in 10 days to see if she gains more. He also suggested I pump to see how much she's getting per feeding and to make sure I'm producing enough. All seems ok there but it took her an hour to drink the bottle. Zack actually had the same kind of issues when he was born. he did too much sleeping and not enough eating. Same with his little sister. I'm sure we'll be ok after a while.

I'll keep you posted on the next Dr. Appointment.

Kiley Marie

Born: September 5th

Time: 2:44 a.m.

Weight: 6lbs. 14oz.

Height: 20"

How did we get the name? Kiley came from an Irish book. Marie came from the middle name of both Auntie Staci and Auntie Megan. I wanted family names for our kids middle names, that's why Zack's middle name is Thomas.

I'm sorry I haven't updated the blog with news on Kiley since our return home. We've been busy settling in and re cooperating. I have to say, those of you who are curious, I'd much prefer a vaginal birth over a c-section! Those of you who have gone through c-sections multiple times, like you Staci, are AMAZING women!!
